Pound Lane, Christchurch
The name lives on in the street sign attached to the wall of this High Street corner building, but in reality Pound Lane no longer exists. The animal pound that the name refers to was sited to the left of the telephone kiosk at the head of Pound Lane that roughly followed the course of the present Bypass. From memory it was a short narrow street flanked on both sides by terraced cottages. Pound Lane was swept away when the Bypass and its roundabouts were built.
