South lighthouse - Lundy Island
South lighthouse - Lundy Island
A view of the south lighthouse, one of two on the island as a warning to shipping. The Old Light was built in 1819 but was placed too high up to be of any use in fog. It was replaced in 1897 by the two lighthouses which exist here now. The south lighthouse was automated and converted to solar power in 1994. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is not. Time photo taken not available.
