The old Hexham TA Drill Hall stands at the junction of Hencotes (B6305) and Temperley Place. From 2014, the building has been occupied by the Machine Gun Platoon of the 5th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (Army Reserve). The building has been renamed the Jackman Barracks, in honour of Captain Jackman of the 1st Royal Northumberland Fusiliers who was awarded a posthumous VC for bravery at Tobruk in 1941.

The building also houses detachments of the Army Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps.

Looking up Temperley Place.
