SK5421 : River Soar bridge at Stanford

taken 10 years ago, near to Stanford on Soar, Nottinghamshire, England

River Soar bridge at Stanford
River Soar bridge at Stanford
This was probably built at the expense of the Great Central Railway, the construction of which involved the realignment of the river Link. The boundary between Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire runs diagonally along the bridge from the near left to far right corners, following the old course of the river and giving an indication of the extent its course was altered.
There is a bench mark Link on the left hand abutment parapet.
