taken 10 years ago, near to Backbarrow, Cumbria, England

The Blue Mill
The Blue Mill
Now the site of a hotel and health club, this was formerly the factory where the blue pigment ultramarine, or "dolly blue" was manufactured by Reckitt & Sons. The 'blue mill' was well-known locally, as dust from its production gave a blue tint to most of the village. Production continued until 1981.(Archive LinkExternal link BBC Cumbria)
