New Zealand "holly" (Olearia macrodonta)
New Zealand "holly" (Olearia macrodonta)
With its waxy toothed evergreen leaves this shrub resembles a holly bush until early summer, when the small white composite flowers appear, showing that it is unmistakably a member of the daisy family. Of Australasian origin, it has naturalised here at Colbost Jetty and at several other locations in this north-west corner of Skye. The fuchsia to the right is another immigrant that does well in this mild moist climate. LinkExternal link
