The wider location of the memorial is shown in this photo NY5377 : Church yard near Blackpool Gate . It is evident that the memorial and plinth have been renovated very recently.
The memorial is inscribed 'In honour of the men of this parish who fell in the Great War 1914-18'. Twenty men are named - see NY5377 : Names on the war memorial at The Knowe Church .
Prior to the formation of the United Reformed Church in 1972 (see Wikipedia LinkExternal link ), The Knowe was a Presbyterian church. But the war memorial is apparently non-denominational, as the same names are listed on the one at St Cuthbert's (C of E) Parish Church, Bewcastle - for details see Roll of Honour website LinkExternal link .
