Path and signpost
There was already a grassy path here, but it has been improved in recent months. It is part of the Three Lochs Way, as indicated by the signpost; there is a small marker for that route at the top of the post. The signs read (ahead) "Helensburgh 3 km 2 mls" and "Balloch 7.2 km 4.6 mls".
The picture was taken from the point where this path is crossed by a forestry track. The forestry track is itself fairly recent; it was created only a few years before this part of the Three Lochs Way was upgraded. NS3381 : New forestry track shows it during its creation.
At the time of writing, the forestry track and the path, both being recent, were not yet marked on the OS map. However, the dry-stone wall that the present picture shows to the right (north-west) of the path is depicted on the 1:25000 map.
Not far ahead, the path enters Quarry Wood. Between here and the woods, a few short boardwalks had been created as part of the programme of path improvement.
For the background details, see NS3382 : Path to Craigendoran, taken from further back on the same path.
