SZ1690 : Gabions, Hengistbury Head Beach

taken 11 years ago, near to Wick, Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, England

Gabions, Hengistbury Head Beach
Gabions, Hengistbury Head Beach
These gabions (see LinkExternal link ) installed for just a short stretch of the beach appear to be protecting the c. 700 BC Double Dykes of the Hengistbury Head Iron Age settlement from coastal erosion.

Beyond lies Warren Hill on which the mast of the Coastguard Station can just be seen.
