NY8380 : Shieldfield

Shieldfield
Shieldfield
The placename is 'Shieldfield' on current large-scale maps, but 'Shillafield' or 'Shielafield' have all been used in past editions. The latter looks like it was the correct original. Whatever is its correct name, the farm sits below the eastern part of Shitlington and Billerley Crags to its east. The track is a public byway which provides access to the farm, nearby Blinkbonny Cottage and Shittlington Crags Cottage. The photo was taken from an area near Slade Sike called Temple Green.
