This closer view shows that the arch is a curious shape - what might be described as an elongated horse-shoe. The arch itself is lined with brick, while much of the rest is built of flint cobbles - unknapped flint. The cobbles of the retaining walls have been laid in courses (almost like bricks) while the cobblework of the parapet is more haphazard.

The narrow track passing beneath the bridge is said to be a bridleway, but there seems hardly enough headroom for a rider to pass through without dismounting.
