Castlefield Viaducts
A view from "Cloud 23", the bar on the 23rd floor of the Beetham tower (Hilton Hotel SJ8397 : Beetham Tower). This view is looking towards the west. The main feature in the foreground is the railway system of three large nineteenth century railway viaducts near to the site of the Roman fort at Castlefield and, beyond them, the Castlefield canal basin. The tall buildings near the horizon are at Salford Quays and MediaCityUK.
The central viaduct is now used for the Metrolink tramway, the one on the left still carries a railway line whilst the one on the right is now disused.
