SK1985 : The Tailbay

taken 17 years ago, near to Thornhill, Derbyshire, England

The Tailbay
The Tailbay
Looking down from Ladybower Dam you can see the 2 pumping stations to the left and right of the River Derwent. Between the 2 stations is an area known as The Tailbay where surplus water is released.
These pumping stations deal with around 10% of the water for the Severn Trent area and water is piped as far south as Leicester.
