Dunmore Demesne, on which stands the ruins of its former "Big House" is now a public park and golf course. Built c.1790 and incorporating an earlier house, it was the former residence of the Earl of Ross and was sold to Sir George Shee at the end of the C18. It is unfortunate that the ubiquitous ivy has been allowed to encroach to such a degree that the fine stone facade with its unusual bowed ends to the gables will soon be lost to view.
