Site of Littleborough Ferry
Site of Littleborough Ferry
Historic site on the River Trent ... there was a 5.5m wide causeway here with the Roman town of SEGELOCVM on the military road between DANVM (Doncaster) and Ermine Street north of LINDVM (Lincoln). The River Trent was deepened and made navigable in 1820 and the causeway was dismantled and replaced by a chain ferry which operated until about 1910. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
