Sewage Outfall
Sewage Outfall
United Utilities are preparing a scheme to eliminate the discharge of sewage to the Solway. This involves new pumping stations at Bowness, Drumburgh and Port Carlisle to transfer flows to a new treatment works at Glasson. The scheme has many difficulties to overcome such as Archaeology (Hadrians Wall) and SSSI (Salt Marshes).
