William Thomas Du Boulay was born in Weymouth on 14 January 1832 and baptised at St Mary, Melcombe Regis on 19 February that year. A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge he was ordained in 1857. After curacies in Shillington, Pluckley and Kensington he came here. He has a blue plaque in nearby Gilston Road
