Linking the past and present - Newington Bagpath, Gloucestershire
Here, sheep graze on the old castle mound at Newington Bagpath. The link with the past is the Cotswold wool industry of mediaeval times, with the breed of sheep known as the Cotswold Lion. Many of the fine churches of Cotswold owe their existence to the work done on them using the profits from wool. Whatever the motive, building for the sake of it or to ensure themselves a place in the afterlife by their deeds in this life, they left a fine legacy behind them. Never been to the Cotswolds? Do go, I think you won't be disappointed. Time photo taken 4.17 pm BST (British Summer Time).
