St Francis church: foundation stone
The date is 5 October 1935; dedication was by the then archbishop of Canterbury, as the parish was then in Canterbury Diocese (since c.1985 it has been in Southwark).
St Francis of Assisi, West Wickham
An unlisted Anglican parish church on Ravenswood Avenue, West Wickham (a suburb of Bromley).
The nave and chancel (architects: S E Newberry and C W Fowler) are in perpendicular Gothic style, somewhat outdated for 1935. An extension was added on the north side in 1973 (by S W J Smith). The Church Hall dates from 1960 (Riches & Blythin). [source: 2010 quinquennial report, D Golberg].
