NZ9602 : Common foxglove, Digitalis purpurea

taken 5 years ago, near to Ravenscar, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Common foxglove, Digitalis purpurea
Common foxglove, Digitalis purpurea
Here, growing wild, this beautiful flower has a dark side, it's poisonous!
Foxglove poisoning usually occurs from sucking the flowers or eating the seeds, stems, or leaves of the foxglove plant.
Strangely, the poisonous leaves contain digitalis, a potent heart medicine.
