Bomber Command Memorial Window, St Michael's Chapel
St Michael, who defeated and expelled Satan and his followers from Heaven, is shown in shining armour with a shield in one hand and a lance in the other with which he has slain the dragon at his feet.
Centrally below Michael is the badge of Bomber Command flanked by the Union flag and the arms of the diocese of Lincoln. Below these, a flight lieutenant wears a survival flotation jacket (a "Mae West") and a leading aircraftman holds the ropes of an aircraft wheel chock, signifying the close relationship and co-operation between RAF aircrew and groundcrew.
At the bottom, Lancaster bombers battle against the searchlights and anti-aircraft fire.
The window was unveiled in May 1954.
