taken 10 years ago, near to South End, Cumbria, England

Haws Bed Marsh
Haws Bed Marsh
Saltmarsh enclosed by the southern tip of Walney Island.

In the distance, looking past Sheep Island on the right and along Walney Channel towards the shipbuilding facilities on Barrow Island. The dominant building is Devonshire Dock Hall, at 51m high it is the tallest building in Cumbria, and the second largest shipbuilding facility in Europe. Beyond that in the far distance a plume of cloud streams from Black Combe (600m), the most westerly outlying fell of the Lake District National Park.
