Grade II listed, late 19th century, neo-gothic former gatehouse to St.Winefride's Well at Holywell, now a library and museum.
St.Winefride's Well

St.Winefride's well claims to be the oldest continually visited pilgrimage site in Britain and the only shrine to have survived the Reformation.
In AD 660 the young Winefride spurned the advances of a local Prince Caradoc, who cut off her head. A spring rose from the spot where her severed head landed and Winefride herself was later restored to life by her uncle St.Bueno. Known as 'The Lourdes of Wales', it's waters are said to have miraculous healing powers and it has been a place of pilgrimage since the 7th century. LinkExternal link
