taken 10 years ago, near to Fiskavaig, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Dun Ardtreck / Dłn Ard Treig
This broch stands on a precipice and is walled for about two thirds of its circumference; on the remaining side there is a sheer drop of some 50 feet into the sea. There is a gallery 3 feet wide within the thickness of the wall
Link.
The broch guards the seaward approach to the fjord of Loch Harport. In the background can be seen Idrigill Point, the southern extremity of the Duirinish peninsula, and to its left on the horizon the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. To the far right, across Loch Bracadale, is the unmistakable profile of Healabhal Beag, the more southerly and smaller (but higher) of Macleod's Tables.
