The Bakelite Museum to the west of Williton in Somerset is a treasure trove of all things made from Bakelite and other weird and wonderful hard plastics, such as "Bois Durci" (French for hardened wood) - a natural plastic made from sawdust and ox blood!
You can tell you're getting on in years when you go to a museum and spot things you remember from your childhood - well this place will be a trip down Memory Lane for anyone aged over about 40. Just a fiver to go round (2014), thoroughly recommended for anyone interested in the artefacts of the C20th in particular. It's also got rather a charming little café.
