On reaching Basingstoke, the A339 becomes part of the town's ring road and is upgraded to a dual carriageway. The junction with the A33 was initially built with an elevated roundabout and space for the (as then) unbuilt flyover. However, the decision was later taken to finish off the Grade Separated Junction (GSJ LinkExternal link ) which was completed in the early 1990s.
The A339

The A339 runs for almost 35 miles between Newbury in Berkshire and Alton in Hampshire. Along the way, it forms the eastern and northern parts of the Basingstoke Ring Road.
