NH6343 : Former Craig Dunain Hospital

taken 7 years ago, near to Leachkin, Highland, Great Britain

Former Craig Dunain Hospital
Former Craig Dunain Hospital
The main building of the former Craig Dunain Psychiatric Hospital. The hospital closed in 1999, and much of the site is becoming the 'Westercraigs' housing development.

This main block dates from 1864, and is Category B listed. The part on the right has now been converted into flats, the rest appears to be derelict. It was substantially damaged in a fire in 2007. It is now on the Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland. LinkExternal link
