A wave from the cockpit of the Canadian Lancaster Vera
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight consisting of two Spitfires and Two Lancasters scheduled to appear at the Scottish Airshow at Ayr Low Green on Saturday 6th September 2014 was cancelled due to bad weather at RAF Coningsby, but they were able to fly on the Sunday to the Portrush Airshow in Northern Ireland, and they performed a fly past and landed at Prestwick for a short period. A large number of plane spotters at Prestwick were thrilled to see these iconic WW2 aircraft at close quarters. This Canadian Lancaster (Vera) flew from Hamilton, Ontario to RAF Coningsby in early August to join the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on a series of air displays and fly pasts in the UK.
