Benches in disused lime kilns, Lynmouth
Located on the Esplanade, the kilns probably date from the late 18th century.
There was always a need for lime in this area, especially for use on the local acid soils. A regular trade across the Severn Estuary from South Wales existed from early times until the arrival of the railways.
SS7249 : 20p to see (not very much) In answer to your question, it was just you. Anyone who goes to such a beautiful spot and thinks there isn't anything to see is just plain barmy.
