Alexandra Dock, Kingston upon Hull
Alexandra Dock, built by the Hull & Barnsley Railway Company, opened 16 July 1885. In 1911 the Company built the River Pier at the west wharf, to the west of the lock entrance. It was linked to the shore by two main gantries over which ran electric coal conveyor belts. The Pier also had two transit sheds, one of which was erected between 1938 and 1948. These sheds were used by vessels in the Continental fruit and vegetable trade. Alexandra Dock closed to commercial shipping 30 September 1982, re-opening in 1991. River Pier has been disused for many years and is in a dilapidated state.

Illustrated is the Pier between the two coal conveyors.
