River Wye at Symonds Yat
There's no apostrophe in "Symonds Yat", but it always feels like there should be, since the name means "Symonds' Gate", from Robert Symonds, a 17th century Sherriff of Herefordshire. Anyway. This view is from outside the Saracen's Head Inn, to which we had cycled for our dinner, looking towards the Old Ferrie Inn (which is the white building on the riverbank) further upstream. The canoes in the bottom right hand corner are an ever - present feature of life in Symonds Yat!
