The final touch the glass beads are broadcast. Painting this arrow took about five minutes. By the time I'd asked how long it took the paint to dry, it was dry, set cold.
Painting road markings, as observed

Hot white road paint from a smoking tank on a wagon is dispensed into a jug. The operative pours from the jug into a spreader while drawing it along, guided by a straightedge or chalked lines. While the paint is still tacky, small glass beads are broadcast over it to make it reflective. The paint is cold and set in a very short time.
