Minster Lovell - Old Hall - Southwest Tower ruins
The Southwest Tower is the largest surviving fragment of the West wing (or Range, see SP3211 : Minster Lovell - View along West Range) of the U-shaped Minster Lovell Old Hall. It has a three-storey oriel window turret built into its western corner as can be seen. The outside of this turret has some interesting features which can be seen in SP3211 : Minster Lovell - Oriel window turret base (SW Tower) and SP3211 : Minster Lovell - Stone carving on Southwest Tower.
This tower is of slightly later date than the majority of the Old Hall dating from the late rather than early C15th. A small section of the River Windrush which flows past the site on its southern boundary can be seen on the left.
See shared description below:
Minster Lovell Hall

The ruins of the mid C15th Minster Lovell Hall lie between the church of St Kenelm Link and the River Windrush in a very attractive and picturesque site. The hall fell into a ruinous condition in the mid C18th, though an engraving of 1729 LinkExternal link suggests it was still in good condition as late as this.
The manor and hall were owned by a number of different people since its construction in 1431/32 for William 7th Lord Lovell. It is now in the care of English Heritage (see LinkExternal link )
A plan of the ruins can be seen here LinkExternal link
It is EH Grade I listed LinkExternal link
and the site is a listed Ancient Monument LinkExternal link
