The base of the NB5363 : Ness Fishery Memorial / An t-Iasgach a bha am Port Nis is inscribed with the Gaelic names of the townships in the parish of Nis (Ness), the most northerly in Lewis. The corresponding English names are: Port of Ness, Knockaird, Fivepenny, Eoropie, Eorodale, Lionel, Skigersta, Swainbost, Adabrock, Habost, Cross, North Dell and South Dell. The quotation round the rim translates as "The fishery that was in Port of Ness" and is the title of a poem of 16 stanzas composed by Donald Macleod of Port.
