Hammersmith Bridge North Tower
Hammersmith Bridge North Tower
The first Hammersmith Bridge was designed by William Tierney Clarke and opened in 1827. However, it suffered from overloading and in 1887 it was demolished down to deck level and a new lighter weight superstructure built by Sir Joseph Bazelgette. The new bridge superstructure is built in wrought and cast iron on the original Tierney Clark foundations. It was Grade II listed in 2007.
