The church on the Green at Aboyne
The website Places of Worship in Scotland Link (Archive Link )
has the following information about the church:
"This prominent church was built in 1859 in the village of Aboyne, where it stands alongside the large central village green and park on a small street that borders the green. The church has small grounds and there is no graveyard. It was built as a Free Church and later became a United Free Church. The church building is no longer in ecclesiastical use and became a Masonic hall in later years. It is currently in use as a solicitor's office."
Apparantly known as the Huntly Arms Inn until the 1850's. At some time between 1851 and 1861 censuses it became the Huntly Arms Hotel. See http://www.royal-deeside.org.uk/Abhistory/thomson.htm . Is it a coincidence that Aboyne railway station was opened in 1859?
