taken 11 years ago, near to Barnhill, Northumberland, England

The Punch Bowl Rock above Shaftoe Crags
A natural, eroded sandstone rock outcrop that forms a popular viewpoint above the crags. The rock is so called from the 'Devil's Punchbowl' that adorns its top surface NZ0581 : Devil's Punchbowl at Shaftoe Crags although these days is often called the Piper's Chair, the only name shown on the modern 1:25,000 OS map. I believe this name should refer to the carved rock 'chair' which is a detached boulder just next to it on the west side NZ0581 : Piper's Chair above Shaftoe Crags.
Larger scale maps show both names but are imprecisely located on Shaftoe Crags.
