SO3299 : Ladywell Mine - engine house

taken 9 years ago, near to Black Marsh, Shropshire, England

Ladywell Mine - engine house
Ladywell Mine - engine house
A fine consolidated engine house that was apparently used for pumping and winding with a c22" rotative engine. The tall slot in the wall would have accommodated the flywheel. The vintage is 1874 but the mine apparently became uneconomical and closed c1882.
