NZ2565 : Jesmond railway station (site), Tyne & Wear

taken 12 years ago, near to Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

Jesmond railway station (site), Tyne & Wear
Opened in 1864 by the Blyth & Tyne Railway on the line from Newcastle (New Bridge Street) to Blyth, this station closed in 1978, when part of the line was converted to Metro operation. This didn't include Jesmond station which was replaced by a nearby underground Metro station of the same name - see NZ2565 : Jesmond Metro station, Newcastle.
View south towards New Bridge Street. The station is a remarkable survivor.
