Drum-shaped plug of iron waste, Warton Sands
An inspection of the slag heaps and outcrops dumped here from the old Carnforth iron works often reveals large drum-shaped plugs. I imagine they were plugs of some kind used to hold molten iron or waste slag in a container but I would not know. They are being gradually eroded away by storms and high tidal surges.
