The "George Hay" Sluice along the River Welland
This is the point where the Lord's Drain joins the River Welland.
This sluice was named the "George Hay" sluice on completion of its refurbishment in 2013, in recognition of Mr George Hay's long service and dedication to land drainage, having served for 50 years as a member on the South Holland Internal Drainage Board, and its predecessor, the South Welland Internal Drainage Board, from November 1960 until his retirement from the board in November 2010.
