Denton War Memorial

Denton War Memorial stands in Victoria Park, near to the Victoria Street entrance. It commemorates the sacrifice of the 379 men of Denton and Haughton who lost their lives during the Great War. It was unveiled on 23 July 1921.

On each of the four sides, there are four steps leading up to the memorial. At the front, the dates 1914 and 1918, surrounded by wreathes, are either side of a panel of names. (LinkExternal link - Roll of Honour)

Above, on the central column, it states:

'In grateful and undying remembrance of those who gave their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918. This memorial has been erected by their fellow townsmen July 1921'
