Poppies at the Tower of London
This temporary art installation, entitled "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red", was staged in the moat of the Tower of London in November 2014 to commemorate the 100th. anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. It comprised 888,246 ceramic poppies, each one representing a member of the British armed forces who gave their life during the conflict. After the installation closed, the poppies were sold for £25 (GBP 25) each to raise funds for military charities.
