Folly Railway Bridge construction
This bridge will carry the Heysham to M6 link road over the West Coast Main Line. It has 4 pairs of 42m long steel beams in a natural finish, i.e. rust.
Here, a pair of beams are being prepared for installation. The beams were delivered as 21m long pairs braced together side by side, and have been aligned end-to-end on pedestals. They are now being welded together, in the temporary enclosure.
