Folly Railway Bridge construction
This will carry the Heysham to M6 link road over the West Coast Main Line. The bridge will also span a diverted Folly Lane, seen in the foreground.
This is the eastern abutment. On the right, the last pairs of steel bridge beams have been aligned end-to-end on pedestals, so they can be welded together. The mobile crane has been used to align the beams. A larger one will be needed to lift the beams onto the abutments.
