Dumbarton Castle: The Beak from White Tower Crag
The path in the foreground leads down from the summit of the White Tower Crag (NS3974 : Dumbarton Castle: White Tower Crag), the Rock's western peak. Beyond the intervening cleft, the old powder magazine (NS4074 : Dumbarton Rock: the Magazine) can be seen on the eastern peak, which is called the Beak. Behind the magazine is a sentry box, with an adjoining section of wall: NS4074 : Dumbarton Rock: sentry box and curtain wall.
Almost directly behind them is NS4274 : Dumbuck Quarry. NS4376 : The Long Crags, the escarpment of the plateau of the Kilpatrick Hills, make up the left-hand side of the skyline. The River Clyde is on the right.
