Approaching Seathwaite Tarn
Approaching Seathwaite Tarn
The access track to the tarn allows easy walking all the way to the dam. The dam was built in 1904 to provide Barrow-in-Furness with drinking water, enlarging a smaller natural tarn. Despite being the largest man-made structure here, time has mellowed the dam and it merges quite well into its surroundings.
