Dane John Gardens, Canterbury
Dane John Gardens, Canterbury
Looking along the lime tree avenue. To the left is the war memorial and the bandstand and in the distance in the centre of the path is the fountain. On the extreme left is a glimpse of the city wall. The gardens date back to 1551 and in 1790 Alderman James Simmons laid the park out in formal gardens. In 1999 Canterbury City Council completed a million pound renovation of the park, supported by the Heritage Lottery fund and local sponsorship.
