Church of St Michael, Marbury: pulpit
Notable as the "oldest surviving wooden pulpit in Cheshire", allegedly from 1400, which if so means it pre-dates the present church. More recently fitted with electric light.
Church of St Michael, Marbury

An Anglican parish church. The church's own historical guide gives the date as c.1400 but the list description gives it as 16th century with a chancel of 1822, which fits the visual appearance better. The tower, which contains six bells, is notable for being around two feet out of plumb. Listed grade II* (LEN 1225604).

Formerly a chapelry in the parish of Whitchurch, in the county of Shropshire and diocese of Lichfield, on 5 February 1870 it became the district church for the townships of Marbury cum Quoisley and Norbury, and was transferred to the diocese of Chester. (source: LinkExternal link )As of 2014 it was still in the Diocese of Chester, the Deanery of Malpas, and the Benefice (linked group of parishes) of Marbury with Tushingham and Whitewell.
