SD5383 : Coal yard by Lancaster Canal

taken 10 years ago, near to Crooklands, Cumbria, England

Coal yard by Lancaster Canal
Coal yard by Lancaster Canal
By 1819, Earl Balcarres, one of the canal's proprietors, had a long wharf and several coke ovens at Crooklands. [Robert Swain - Walker's Guide to the Lancaster Canal]
Presumably this coal yard, sandwiched between the canal and the A65, is a remnant.
